Scheme

The Eccles LIFT site is located in the heart of Eccles, adjacent to the Grade 2 Listed Carnegie Library, facing the War Memorial, Barton Lane and Corporation Road.

Phase 1 involves developing the 1960's Eccles Children's library extension to become a three storey building housing NHS health and Salford City Council services, as well as the Eccles Children's Library. Planned health services include those services presently provided in Eccles Health Centre.

Phase 2 will develop the Eccles Health Centre building.

Services

Services in the proposed Eccles Health and Social Care Centre include:

  • 2 x GP practices
  • Salford City Council 'One Stop Shop'
  • Eccles Children's Library
  • Community space
  • Cafe
  • Children's play area
  • Health services proposed include: Audiology (adult and child), Continence, Dentistry, Diabetes, Dietetics, Family Planning, Health promotion, Midwifery, Opthalmology, Orthoptics, Paediatrics, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Speech and Language Therapy.

When

Planning permission for the Eccles development was approved by Salford City Council in March 2006.

'Financial Close' for the development was achieved in December 2006, construction began in February 2007 and the centre due to open late 2008.

Partners in the Eccles Health and Social Care Centre are:-

  • Salford City Council

Architect

Architects AustinSmithLord currently employ 125 staff at four locations in the UK. Established over 50 years the work on the Pendleton Health and Social Care Centre has been coordinated from their Warrington office.

Other urban projects designed by AustinSmithLord include the FACT Centre in Liverpool, the All Saints Campus at Manchester Metropolitan University and a 2000-student campus for the University of Hertfordshire.
