Topping out ceremony for first new building

Salford Royal and partners Consort Healthcare and Balfour Beatty celebrate the last brick laid on the first new construction.

On 20th June 2008 Saford Royal, Consort Healthcare and Belfour Beatty invited the local media, stakeholders and members of the public to celebrate the the 'topping out' of the first new building in the £200 million redevelopment.

The first of the new buildings will house state-of-the-art education facilities where members of the health profession will receive a variety of courses pitched at different levels, for example postgraduate courses etc.   In addition to this, the building will also be home to some simulation facilities which include a simulated operating theatre.  The building will also contain office occommodation, the new mortuary and linen & decontamination services.

Construction work on the building started back in September 2007 and will be finally handed over to the Trust over two stages in January 2009, this will pave the way for the building to be in service by Spring 2009.
